Early Years:

Israel Ribeiro, born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, embarked on his martial arts journey at the tender age of 5, immersing himself in the discipline of Karate Gojuryu.

From the very beginning, his passion for martial arts was evident, and he quickly demonstrated exceptional skills and dedication. The early years of training in Karate laid a strong foundation for his future endeavors.

Transition to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu:

Ribeiro's journey into Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu began at Kioto Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. At 15 years old, he made a pivotal decision to explore the world of ground fighting and submission grappling.

Under the guidance of skilled instructors at Kioto BJJ, he honed the foundational skills that would later become instrumental in his journey.

Blue Belt to Black Belt with Roger Hampshire:

As a blue belt, Ribeiro took a significant step in his BJJ journey by joining classes with Roger Hampshire, a direct disciple of the legendary Rolls Gracie.

This decision marked the beginning of a transformative phase. From blue belt through each subsequent rank, Ribeiro diligently learned from Hampshire, culminating in the conferral of his black belt at the age of 26.

Master Roger shaped not only his techniques but also connected Professor Israel to the deep roots of Jiu-Jitsu, including it’s life style.

Shaping Ribeiro's BJJ Perspective:

Graduating in law brought a fresh perspective to Ribeiro's understanding of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

His legal background highlighted that BJJ is more than physical prowess or fighting; it's a strategic game.

It involves a science of movements that demand consistent study, emphasising the persistence and dedication required in the journey.

Teaching in Australia and Community Engagement:

Since 2018, Ribeiro has been making a significant impact in Australia as a BJJ Professor. Beyond training, he actively contributes to the BJJ community, fostering an environment of respect, discipline, and camaraderie.

In 2020, Ribeiro made history in Western Australia by becoming one of the first persons to be BJJ professor qualified in the Winners methodology for children. He was part of the inaugural group, contributing to one of the most significant programs for kids worldwide.

Originating in the UAE, where Jiu-Jitsu is part of the school curriculum, this program underscores the undisputed benefits of BJJ for children's physical and mental health
